| I started painting mini sunrise and sunset pastels early in my career in an attempt to "loosen up" in between my more involved pieces. One day while working on a landscape, I noticed the piece as considerably darker than I desired. Rather than discard it, I added a shooting star. Inspired, I expanded the concept including the two star patterns I knew at that time in my life - the Big Dipper and the Little Dipper. Research followed and soon I was recreating other constellations. Until recently I specialized in Northern Hemisphere constellations. However in June 2005 I had the opportunity to go to Kenya to study and paint the Southern Hemisphere and in the Spring of 2007 I accompanied renowned watercolour artist David Rankin and his wife Deanna to the Indian Himalayas ! |
