"Southern Migration"
Original Pastel
16" x 22"

The Big Dipper is the
first star pattern that amateur astronomers learn to identify
because it is unmistakable. It is actually part of the constellation
Ursa Major, the great bear. It's position shifts during the year
- from close to the horizon in autumn as depicted in this painting,
to nearly overhead in spring. This painting is a representation
of our traditional fall migration as thousands of waterfowl make
the long journey South with Ursa Major at their backs.
